CAMP INSTRUCTOR

M. Ryan Taylor of UkulelePlay.com

MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Music: All music will be provided.
  • Clip-on electronic tuner: Ryan recommends the Fishman FT2 that is hyper-accurate to within one cent.
  • Ukulele: Students will need their own ukulele to bring to camp. Ryan recommends the Enya Carbon Fiber Travel Ukulele, that has a great 'set up'  with an 'easy action' that makes it very comfortable for beginners to play. Most importantly, the ukulele is in tune with itself. The carbon fiber composite is also very forgiving, long-lasting, and immune to the arid climate of Utah. It comes in soprano (good for the smallest players) and concert (good for taller folk) sizes. They come in a variety of colors and have a surface that is great to personalize with stickers. There is also a concert flower-printed model that is classy-looking.
