Students will make a mask mold of their faces using plaster bandages. Then slabs of clay will be pressed into the mold to produce a clay sculpture. Students will learn other hand building techniques to complete various small clay slab projects.
Techniques taught: mask mold making, slabbing, applique, sgraffito, stamping, glazing
All you will need to bring is an old thick cotton shirt or smock to protect clothing.
All other supplies including clay, sculpting tools, and glazes will be provided.
This class is appropriate for all ages.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who will work with them to complete the project.
The final class session on May 7th is to pick up the completed pieces.
Refund Policy: Participants have 30 days to notify AFVA and TAF of changes or cancellations to their registration status to receive a full refund or apply fees to future art class. After 30 days, registration fees will not be refunded and will be donated to the Timpanogos Arts Foundation.
